Fall Family Friendly Events
The season of crisp air, crunchy leaves and all things pumpkin spice is upon us. Whether this is your first autumn in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, or you’ve been enjoying the seasons here for years, there’s nothing better than jumping into the local seasonal activities with the whole family! And if you’re not a DFW local, you just might find yourself house hunting the market after learning of all the fun fall family-friendly activities in town. Let’s take a look at three ideas to celebrate the new season.
1. Autumn at the Arboretum
Pumpkins and gourds and squash, oh my! The 16th annual Autumn at the Arboretum is in full swing, and 90,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash will be on display for all to admire. This year, the show will include a brand-new pumpkin village exhibit. Also new this year, a signature display called, “Bugtopia” that will come alive in the Lakeside Exhibit Area with large insect topiaries and “bugged-out” pumpkin houses that will have your kids wide-eyed in amazement. Not to miss out on any of the traditional fall festivities, the event will also include a maze for little ones to explore.
2. Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot
Start making holiday family traditions in your community with the 54th Annual Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot. What better way to begin a day of feasting than to get out and get moving with family and friends? This is one of the largest multi-event races in the country, and proceeds support the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Community Health programs for children, adults and families.
3. Yesterland Farms
This fall festivity may take an hour or so commute, but the pumpkin picking, corn maze, rides, fireworks and more make it worth the trip. If your kids are big enough for some Halloween frights and fun, consider visiting Yesterland Farms on a Friday or Saturday night in October for the “Spooktacular Nights” activities. Make this your new Texas tradition, and catch the fun through November 7th.
There’s so much autumn family fun to be had in the Dallas-Fort Worth area!
